Autumn Camping: What to Pack
Plan an autumn trip around the forecast, daylight hours and conditions at your campsite. Choose equipment for the expected temperature, rain and wind.
A dry place to rest
Check the tent, covers and fastening method before leaving. Bring a temperature-appropriate sleeping bag, an insulating mat and spare dry clothes. Fit rain protection according to the instructions while maintaining ventilation to reduce condensation. Dry the tent before storing it.
Lighting and power
With shorter days, set up your lighting before dark. Check the connection and power source, and bring a separate portable light for moving around. Explore camping lighting.
Food and living space
Plan simple meals, drinking water and a stable work surface. Store food safely. Use stoves and combustion appliances only in conditions permitted by the manufacturer, never inside a closed tent.
Before leaving
Check that camping is allowed, tell someone your route and leave the area clean. Browse camping kitchens and camping furniture, and build a checklist for your trip.
